- Backtrack
: Live security Linux distribution
- BackTrack is the result of the merging of two Innovative Penetration Testing live Linux distributions "Whax" and "Auditor". Combining the best features from both distributions, and paying special attention to small details, this is probably the best version of either distributions to ever come out. Based on SLAX (Slackware), BackTrack provides user modularity. This means the distribution can be easily customised by the user to include personal scripts, additional tools, customised kernels, etc.

- Knoppix STD
: Live security Linux distribution
- STD is a Linux-based Security Tool. Actually, it is a collection of hundreds if not thousands of open source security tools. It's a Live Linux Distro, which means it runs from a bootable CD in memory without changing the native operating system of the host computer. - Pentoo
: Live security Linux distribution
- Pentoo is a penetration testing livecd based on Gentoo. It features a lot of tools for auditing and testing a network, from scanning and discovering to exploiting vulnerabilities. There are now a mini and a full version, the latter being a bit outdated at the moment. The mini version is modular like Slax, and the developers already created some modules for it. It can also be booted from a usb pen-drive, allowing easier updates. The gui are Enlightenment for the mini and Gnome for the bigger version.

- SLAX is fast and beautiful Linux operating system which fits on small (3.14") CD-ROM disc. It runs directly from the CD (or USB) without installing. The Live CD described here is based on the Slackware Linux distribution and uses Unification File System (also known as unionfs), allowing read-only filesystem to behave as a writable one, saving all changes to memory.

- DyneBolic
: A Multimedia Live Linux distribution
- DyneBolic is shaped on the needs of media activists, artists and creatives as a practical tool for multimedia production: you can manipulate and broadcast both sound and video with tools to record, edit, encode and stream, having automatically recognized most device and peripherals: audio, video, TV, network cards, firewire, usb and more; all using only free software! It is optimized to run on slower computers, turning them into a full media stations: the minimum you need is a pentium1 or k5 PC 64Mb RAM and IDE CD-ROM, or a modded XBOX game console - and if you have more than one, you can easily do clusters.
